Schedule E of the Bankruptcy Petition lists Priority Creditors. Priority Creditors are special unsecured creditors that still usually will get paid even though they are unsecured.
The priority creditors that come up in most cases are domestic support obligations and taxes and certain other debts owed to governmental units. Domestic support obligations are essentially child support and alimony court orders that you are ordered to pay. Taxes, as I’m sure you’ve heard many times, are really hard to discharge or get rid of. If you meet several qualifications, you might get some of your taxes discharged, but the hurdles are high and the hoops are many. You will need to rely on your attorney to help you through the maze of discharging taxes.
Additionally, if you have a claim against you for death or injury to a person as a result of your being intoxicated, that debt will be listed on this priority creditor schedule.
As with all debts, you’ll have to list certain details about each priority debt, as well as how much you owe on each debt.
